Taking out an impressive eight awards after just two months of operation, Perentie Brewing Co. proudly announces its success at the esteemed Royal Queensland Beer Awards 2024, held on Thursday 29 February.
Securing one-fifth of the gold medals in the fiercely contested Lager category, including the coveted top gong ‘Champion Lager’ for it’s Pure Crisp brew, Perentie Brewing Co. is solidifying its position as an Aussie specialist in authentic lager beers.
Since opening the doors to its purpose-built, $6 million-dollar brewery, Perentie was also named the ‘Grand Champion’ beer finalist for overall beers across all categories with its sessionable Pure Crisp lager beer.
Perentie Brewing Co.’s achievement underscores its unwavering commitment to quality and craftmanship.
“It really is a huge coup for Perentie Brewing Co. to take out the trophy for Champion Lager at the Royal Queensland Beer Awards, especially as the new kid on the block,” said Perentie Founder, Kenton Campbell.

Perentie Brewing Co. produces three signature beer products to suit every palate, including its Summer Dry (a mid-strength lager), Pure Crisp (clean crisp lager) and Komodo Black (dark lager) beers.
“Summer Dry is a light and refreshing lager with subtle hop character, it’s the classic well-rounded beer and Pure Crisp offers a clean, crisp Australian taste with a noble hop character that lingers for just long enough,” said Kenton.
“And lovers of rich and complex beers full of character will enjoy Komodo Black, featuring a smooth, lightly roasted malt character with hints of chocolate and cocoa.”
Ahead of the awards, Perentie also produced a limited-edition brew, Pure Haze (the ultimate session lager), adding to its roster of beers entered as part of the country’s first beer competition of the calendar year.
“Pure Haze is an unfiltered German-style lager that’s cloudy, refreshing and sessionable. With notes of bready, yeasty beer that’s balanced, it keeps its noble hop character with a pure Australian taste and is based on the traditional Zwickelbier method,” he said.
Showcasing Australia’s best in industry, the Royal Queensland Beer Awards is one of Australia’s most prestigious beer awards, unearthing the nation’s top beer products.
With more than 600 entries from 87 breweries across 18 categories, a team of 48 experienced brewers, sensory experts and industry figures judged the brews over two days last week.
With 132 entries into the Lager category at the Royal Queensland Beer Awards, Perentie Brewing Co. took out the following slew of awards:

The impressive 921m2 architecturally designed brewery holds a total 68 taps of beer throughout the precinct, 40 dedicated to Perentie’s own brews and all beer is brewed, kegged and canned onsite in Perentie’s state-of-the-art production facility that has the capacity to brew 1 million litres of beer per year.
The brewery is named after Australia’s largest monitor lizard, the Perentie, which is native to the outback.
