PERENTIE RELEASES FIRST DROP AHEAD OF BREWERY’S OFFICIAL OPENING IN DECEMBER

Lager beer enthusiasts rejoice! Perentie Brewing Co. is gearing up to give the public a tantalising taste of its unique brews on December 16, when it officially opens the doors to the 1 million litre brewery located at Distillery Road Market (DRM).

Nestled in the heart of SEQ’s thriving lifestyle and entertainment hub at DRM, Perentie Brewing Co. houses a bespoke 6 million-dollar, purpose-built brewery specialising in authentic lager beers.

Born from a passion for sessionable beers with a uniquely Australian flavour, million-litre Perentie Brewing Co. is helmed by Kenton Campbell, founder of Zarraffa’s Coffee and Tonken Property Group (the developer behind DRM).

“I’m beyond proud and pleased to say that we are almost ready to officially open the doors to what was always a clear vision for me when I acquired the DRM site in 2015; to build a bespoke, local brewery,” said Mr Campbell.

“Lager beers are the heart and soul of beer in my opinion, and I wanted to develop a space that had the ability to carefully craft and responsibly serve up perfect, highly sessionable quality lager beers for the local Aussie palate.”

Offering beers on tap or by the can, Perentie Brewing Co. has announced its signature range of beers brewed on-site will be available to enjoy at all DRM venues in the lead up to its grand opening.

Perentie Brewing Co. will be releasing three products for purchase exclusively at DRM outlets, offering something for every palate, including its Summer Dry (a mid-strength lager), Pure Crisp (clean crisp lager) and Komodo Black (dark lager) beers.

“We wanted to give people a taste of what’s to come and we’re so excited to be releasing our signature range of authentic Perentie Brewing Co. lager beers, which have been rigorously crafted and perfected and will be officially available to purchase or try exclusively at DRM’s onsite outlets,” said Kenton.

Beer aficionados and casual drinkers alike will get to experience the ultimate crisp, clean lager beer, which has been brewed using traditional German brewing techniques, to produce a distinct and unmistakably Australian taste.

Perentie Brewing Co.’s Summer Dry is light and refreshing, with a subtle hop character, it’s a classic well-rounded lager. Pure Crisp offers a clean, crisp Australian taste with a noble hop character that lingers for just long enough. While lovers of rich and complex beers full of character will enjoy Komodo Black, featuring a smooth, lightly roasted malt character with hints of chocolate and cocoa.

Adjacent to the impressive architecturally designed and fully accessible brewery, Perentie’s beer garden overlooks an expanse of the Albert River with views of the historic Beenleigh Rum Distillery.

The area features an expansion of the smoke pit of popular onsite outlet – Sugar Creek Smokehouse – serving up sumptuous smoked meats direct from the pit, as well as some new menu additions.

Guests can enjoy the brewery’s outdoor precinct with seating for over 200 beer lovers to enjoy on a balmy afternoon or cosy up inside the industrial aesthetic of the taphouse, featuring a mix of hardwood, concrete and metals with viewing windows of Perentie’s own brewing tanks.

The venue’s range of on-site brewed beer will be complemented by a seasonal menu served fresh from the Perentie Kitchen and featuring the likes of the Perentie Smash Burger, a modern twist on a classic cheeseburger, and a Prawn and Bug Roll, the perfect accompaniment to the Summer Dry lager.

“I want Perentie to be a truly localised experience that makes space for authentic moments of relaxation and enjoyment and notably for those moments when you take that long, cold sip and stop to appreciate the here and now,” added Kenton.

The brewery is named after Australia’s largest monitor lizard, the Perentie, which is native to the outback.

“The Perentie is our emblem which embodies the spirit and essence of the Australian wild, and in the outback, they treasure every drop, and so do we.”

In addition to the opening of the brewery, DRM is also set to open The F.E.D (The Food and Entertainment District), a brand-new indoor/outdoor entertainment facility and casual dining precinct.

The new purpose-built outdoor entertainment facility and live music venue will feature world-class equipment with the ability to hold up to 2,000 patrons for large scale events, as well as an indoor, air-conditioned entertainment space within The F.E.D, featuring a host of street food container-style outlets, showcasing the best authentic cuisines.

“DRM will continue our commitment to supporting the local music scene by creating another home for live entertainment in the southeast, something near and dear to our hearts,” said Kenton.

“It will also house our existing onsite outlets Posadas Cantina and Sugar Creek Smokehouse, which will move to their new indoor locations, as well as a bill of new unique and flavoursome outlets due to open by 2024.”

Perentie Brewing Co. and The F.E.D are set to open to the public on Saturday 16 December at Distillery Road Market, halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast at 124 Distillery Road, Eagleby QLD 4207.
