NEW KID IN TOWN: LEADING EARLY LEARNING GROUP MAKES IT MARK IN MACKAY

Edge Early Learning, one of Queensland’s fastest growing early learning groups, has recently solidified its presence in Mackay, with plans to open a second centre by the end of the year.

Following the acquisition of an existing Marian-based centre, the Mackay expansion is another signifier Edge Early Learning’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for quality care and early learning services in regional areas across Queensland.

This growth opportunity to provide quality early learning places for 104 of children aged 6-weeks to school age, arose with the acquisition of the former Petit ELJ Marian centre, now proudly rebranded as Edge Marian.

Edge Early Learning CEO, Annie Bryce, believes the decision to bring Edge Early Learning into the Mackay region was a natural progression as they continue with their mission to expand the provision of quality education and care.

“Our expansion plans are in line with the ever-increasing demand that parents have for their children to have access to safe and inspiring environments, where little ones can create meaning about the world around them and develop a lifelong love of learning,” said Annie.

Located on Bissett Street, Edge Marian has undergone enhancements to be a modern, light-filled centre that boasts spacious learning rooms and updated with modern resources, delivering a stimulating environment for quality education and care.

“There is a large outdoor environment that includes vegetable gardens, water play areas, bike tracks, and a fort for the children to explore and engage in active-play, and quiet spaces to relax, all while fostering relationships with their educators and peers.”

Following the success of the first centre within the area, Edge have their sights on further expansion opportunities with a second centre slated to be opened by the end of year.

“Since opening Edge Marian, we’ve experienced an overwhelmingly positive response from local families, with inquiries pouring in wanting to book a tour,” Annie added.

“We’re excited to announce we have plans to open a second centre in the Mackay area toward the end of 2024, and will continue to grow our footprint and provide early education to hundreds of local children.”

Edge Early Learning Marian is led by Mackay local and Centre Director Katie Reck who has been working within the early childhood industry for 13 years.

The long-standing team of educators, who are all passionate and qualified, remain with the centre and are committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment where children feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow.

Edge Early Learning’s educational programs follow an inquiry-based approach, supporting and enhancing learning milestones and journeys across all areas of development through its four pillars, education, wellbeing, relationships, and sustainability.

It’s through this inquiry-based learning where children are encouraged to ask questions and explore and learn through play, Edge sets children and focuses on preparing children for school, socially, emotionally, and developmentally.

Utilising the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework to guide their pedagogy and practice, Edge’s early learning programs include the areas of identity, connectedness, wellbeing, active learning, and communication.

Edge also maintains strong and established connections to local schools as part of their School Readiness Program, helping Kindergarten children transition to primary school.

In addition to quality early education, Edge is leading the way by offering mindfulness activities such as yoga and incorporating sustainable practices such as utilising bamboo nappies and wipes, sunscreen, and environmentally friendly cleaning products. As well as providing daily meals made by in-house chefs who cater to all dietary requirements, all included in the daily fee.

With opening hours from 6.30am to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday, Edge Early Learning Marian centre offers extended operation times to best suit parents and carers and enables them to get the most out of the allocated subsided hours per fortnight.
