GOLD COAST GETS SET FOR AN 8-NIGHT LAUGH FEST

The annual GC Laughs Festival returns to HOTA, Home of the Arts this Friday March 17, with two additional events added to the jam-packed line-up, delivering 8-nights of hilarious entertainment.

More than 40 of the best Australian and international comedians will arrive on the Gold Coast this week to kick off the city’s only comedy festival when it returns to the stage from Friday March 17-25, and April 4.

Starting with a bang, the GC Laughs Launch Party has officially been announced and will launch the mammoth 8-night program on Thursday March 16 from 6pm, hosted at the Burleigh Brewing Taphouse.

Prepare to laugh the night away as Melbourne-based comedian Sonia Di Iorio hosts the uproarious evening, featuring hilarious sets from Ben Russell, Joe Shaffer, Anisa Nandaula and Peter James all while enjoying a world-class craft beer and delicious food truck eats at this 18+ event. Tickets are $20 and include a complimentary schooner on entry.

A final show has also been added to the star-studded Festival line-up, with American comedian Kyle Kinane returning to Australia to bring his intricately crafted jokes and new show to the Gold Coast on Friday March 24.

With the comedy festival in its fifth year, the quintessential GC Laughs Gala gets things underway at HOTA on Friday March 17 from 7.30pm, and is both unmissable and the biggest night of comedy on the Coast, setting the tone for the next seven nights of hilarious Festival entertainment

The nearly sold-out Gala event, hosted by stand-up comedian and all-round funny guy Nick Cody, delivers side splitting laughs, with a cracking combo of surprise international stars, homegrown heroes and laughter legends all taking to stage for an amusing night of all nights.

On Saturday March 18, seven comedy legends including Bronwyn Kuss, Nikki Osborne, Tommy Little, Rove McManus, Dane Simpson, Steph Broadbridge, and Simon Taylor deliver ALL the giggles, followed by a cheeky late-night comedy set with Late Laughs from 10pm.

If you’re looking for mid-week entertainment, Mandy Nolan and Ellen Briggs from Women Like Us, Chris Ryan and Schalk Bezuidenhout will hit the stage on Wednesday March 22. While Thursday 23 March lines up comedic sensations Geraldine Hickey, Stephen K Amos, Cal Wilson, Mark Watson, and Tom Ballard take the mic.

A mammoth 10 shows will be showcased on Friday March 24, including Josie Long, Kyle Kinane, Lano & Woodley, Lawrence Mooney, Diana Nguyen, Larry Dean, Michelle Brasier, Luke Heggie, Andrew Wolfe, and Scout Boxall.

Saturday March 25 will be backed up with a 9-act stellar line-up and including Akmal, Hard Quiz Live (Tom Gleeson), Mike Goldstein, Sandeep Totlani, Claire Hooper, Dusty Rich, Lizzy Hoo, Paul Foot, Shad Wicka & Peter James, and another epic final evening of Late Laughs.

Rounding out the Festival on Tuesday April 4, international comedy superstar Daniel Sloss will finish things off with a night of cracking jokes and hilarious stories about his own experiences with relationship breakdowns, masculinity and death.

GC Laughs Festival Director, Josh Armstrong, believes 2023 will deliver a massive entertainment fix and some much-needed levity for the Gold Coast to revel in, with something for everyone to enjoy.

“We’re serious about comedy and bringing only the best comedians in the game to the Gold Coast. After five years of Laughs, this year is our biggest Festival yet and we’re thrilled to have more than 40 comedians in the line-up,” he said.

“The program is just enormous. Tickets start from $20 and there will be endless amounts of laughs served up through embarrassing stories, hilarious re-enactments, dry humour, and lude jokes.”

“The past four-years have seen more than 20,000 comedy fans flock to HOTA and, with most shows already at capacity with limited tickets remaining, this year will be absolutely massive.”
