BIG NAMES IN COMEDY JOIN GC LAUGHS FESTIVAL LINE UP THIS MARCH

Final shows have just been released for the Gold Coast’s biggest comedy festival – March 12 to 20 – featuring Australian comedy legends, Peter Helliar and Dave Hughes, alongside a bumper star-studded line up of comedic talent.

HOTA, Home of the Arts will host 37 shows across 6 nights this March with the GC Laughs Festival presenting its biggest and best festival to-date in its fourth year running.

Taking to the GC Laughs stage for the first time on March 18 with his show Loopy, Australian comedy veteran, actor, television presenter on Network Ten’s The Project and more, Peter Helliar will have crowds roaring with laugher thanks to his quick wit and self-deprecating comedic style.

Funny man Dave Hughes joins Helliar for the first time at GC Laughs,with his show Trending on March 19. Completely unfiltered, expect an unforgettable night of comedy from the star of comedy panel television series Hughsey, We Have A Problem.

Comedy fans are in for a treat with more shows added to the festival program, including the queen of grand gestures and even grander screw ups, Cal Wilson, with her brand-new show, I’ve Gone To A Lot Of Trouble on March 13.

Nominee for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2018, Lewis Garnham takes to the stagewith his show, Too Much Time To Think on March 17; followed by Nikki Britton with her effervescent storytelling and sell-out, must-see show of the 2021 Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals, One Small Step.

Then on March 18, festival favourite and complete show off, Nath Valvo arrives on the Gold Coast with his brand-new show,Back In The Habit; multi-award winning comedian, Damien Power, brings you an electric night of comedy with his latest hour titled Love Thy Neighbour? No Thanks; Bec Charlwood, one of the country’s best young comedians, takes to the stage with Why Not?; and Lizzy Hoo brings a brand-new show about life, family and what happens to our shoes when we die following a sell-out season at the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals with Hoo Cares?.

Comedians and de facto couple, Ben Kochan and Concetta Caristo, are Funny As Sin on March 19, filled with stand-up and stories; followed by a new show Here If You Need by Mel Buttle,who’s torn up the blindside of comedy appearing on the Great Australian Bake Off, Hughesy We Have A Problem and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Celia Pacquola has also been named host of the GC Laughs Gala on March 12, kicking off the festival with the biggest night of comedy on the Gold Coast. The stand-up comedian, writer and actor is known for springing between stage and screen and has become one of the most in-demand performers in any genre.

“Our program is enormous! We have added some incredible artists to the already killer line up of talent we have performing at GC Laughs this year, showcasing a week of incredible shows here on the Gold Coast by some of the best Australian and international comedians out there,” said GC Laughs Festival Director Josh Armstrong.

“The live comedy we have in store will have you in stitches, with so many brand-new shows from festival favourites and newcomers, there will be something for everyone to come along and enjoy.”
