Australia’s Newest Food and Entertainment Destination Opens Its Doors

Officially launching this month, a new, world-class food and entertainment venue located in South East Queensland, – The F.E.D – is elevating the regional and national offering of exceptional casual dining and live entertainment options.

Distillery Road Market and Zarraffa’s Coffee Founder, Kenton Campbell believes the launch of The F.E.D marks a significant milestone for the Distillery Road Market (DRM) development and the South East Queensland community.

“This venue is designed to bring people together, through a shared passion for great eats and exceptional music, building on the foundation that DRM has been delivering for the past few years,” he said.

Housed within the established 17,000m2 footprint of the Distillery Road Market precinct, The F.E.D combines next-level international street eats, in a space designed for casual enjoyment, which also plays home to incredible entertainment experiences.

“We have created a truly world class venue that can accommodate around 2,000 visitors, making it ideal for concerts, markets, and community gatherings that will only enhance DRM’s reputation as an epicentre of social and cultural activities in the region.”

The F.E.D houses an expansive outdoor entertainment area, on-site eateries, and a large indoor market hall within a 5,000sqm footprint and is conveniently located halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, in Eagleby Queensland.

Late last year, DRM opened Perentie Brewing Co., an authentic lager brewery, joining permanent on-site food vendors Kiwanda Café, Sugar Creek Smokehouse, Posadas Mexican Kitchen, Wing It, Slice It, a Tequila Bar, as well as the headquarters and roastery of Zarraffa’s Coffee.

The F.E.D is a major addition to the larger $50 million DRM precinct development, representing a significant economic investment within the growing Logan and South East Queensland region.

“In the lead up to the Brisbane Olympic Games it’s timely that we are now unveiling stage two of the DRM precinct development, which includes both The F.E.D and the recent opening of Perentie Brewing Co. Our vision has always been about building a destination that is for people to enjoy, both now and well into the future.”

The addition of The F.E.D also underscores DRM’s commitment to fostering community growth and providing unique experiences regionally, contributing to the area’s economic and cultural vitality.

Mayor of Logan, Jon Raven, said the venue is exactly what the city needs.

“We’re the youngest, most diverse and fastest-growing city in the state, so of course Logan residents are keen to support exciting venues like this.

“This venue is in such a great location, just off the M1, so whether you’re travelling from what I like to call the Logan Economic Zone (Brisbane) or Logan Shores (the Gold Coast), visiting this spot, and our city, is a no-brainer.”

The F.E.D’s outdoor entertainment stage is already gaining traction as a destination for touring music and entertainment acts looking for additional east coast stops, with the recent announcement of fan-favourites Grinspoon who will perform at Distillery Road Market in October 2024.

The space will also play home to a host of popular home-grown talent with weekly performances by local bands and artists, including indie pop duo JUNO.

“With so many venues closing around Queensland and limited opportunities for up-and-coming bands and artists to play local venues in South East Queensland, the opening of Distillery Road Market is an oasis in the desert for local as well as touring artists,” Kahlia Ferguson from JUNO said.

“We are incredibly excited to be a part of the grand opening of such an important live music venue for Queenslanders”

Distillery Road Market, which has recently been recognised as a ‘Best of Queensland Experience for 2024’ through Queensland Tourism, has further plans for more restaurant outlets and permanent retail spaces.

“The opening of The F.E.D was always a significant development milestone for DRM,” added Kenton.  “The master plan for the precinct is to be an epicentre for good times and great entertainment and we are well on our way to realising this vision.”

“We continually enjoy fantastic patronage of our market events and our popular food outlets, and with Perentie Brewing Co. opening and now The F.E.D offering, our reputation is growing as a destination for everyone and somewhere that is designed to be enjoyed time and again.”

The grand opening event for The F.E.D is on Saturday, 29 June from 12pm. The event will feature live entertainment, music acts, market stalls, and a wide array of food options to delight visitors throughout the day.
