2018 Gold Coast Show – FREE at the Broadwater Parklands

The Broadwater Parklands has been announced as the home of the 2018 Gold Coast Show, to be held August 31st – September 2nd 2018, and for the first time ever it will be completely FREE to attend.

Celebrating its 112th year, this landmark Gold Coast event will be reimagined at the spectacular Broadwater Parklands, becoming the very first agricultural show of its kind to be held beside the water.

“It will be hard to beat a completely free event on one of the most picturesque waterside venues in Australia,” said Show CEO Lavinia Rampino.

The Broadwater Parklands will come alive from the Southport Aquatic Centre through to the Sundale Bridge including a spectacular side-show alley, woodchopping, baby animal farms, pig racing, arts and crafts, camel rides on the beach, live music, traditional show food, incredible roving entertainment, fireworks and the gigantic Showbag Pavilion.

The Show footprint will also consist of a satellite location at nearby Owen Park and the Southport Pony Club, that will bring back a full Equestrian Program, the cattle and the not-to-be missed Dog Show.

“We are absolutely thrilled after a four-year hiatus, we can bring back the heart and soul of the Show with a full traditional animal program, something sure to delight the whole family.”

In a festival first, the Gold Coast Show will take also over Southport with a nightly feast for the senses called LuminoCITY, set to transform the Southport CBD hub by night with spectacular installations.

“The 2018 Show will connect with a wide range of people; whether you are a family, a millennial, tween or pensioner,” believes Lavinia.

“And with the epicentre of activities located in the heart of the Southport CBD, the event has never been easier to get to with a host of great parking options or you can travel on the Gold Coast Light Rail.”

The Show’s connection to the community has never been stronger, delivering a host of local talent, expertise and support.

“This year’s event packs a serious punch of cultural, artistic and traditional show elements and we are curating the best of what people have come to expect from a Show in this day and age,” explains Lavinia.

“Being able to add the equestrian back to the program is something that we have wanted since we left our Parklands home, and the precinct will be a spectacle at night, so there really is something for everyone.”

Ultimately the event, delivered by the Gold Coast Show Society, is all about heritage, not only for the Gold Coast but also for families, friends and visitors.

“At the end of the day when the Gold Coast community come together, with eyes raised toward the incredible Gold Coast skyline in anticipation of fireworks, a Dagwood dog in hand, and the cacophony of screams from the rides in the background – this is what it’s the Show is all about…creating memories that really do last a lifetime.”

Applications to be an exhibitor are now open, and the program and further information will be available soon at  www.goldcoastshow.com.au
