$2.5M GLAM FOODIE’S PARADISE SET TO IGNITE GC DINING SCENE

Backed by a local hospitality duo, the Gold Coast’s newest dining locale, COAST Beach Bar & Kitchen, will open to the public on August 5 and is already anointed with a reputation as a ‘food lover’s paradise’.

Dressed in modern fixtures and coastal-styled furnishings, the glamorous $2.5 million-dollar venue COAST is set to turn heads when it opens doors to the public next Friday, 5 August, located in the brand new Ocean by Meriton in Surfers Paradise.

Situated opposite arguably Australia’s most iconic coastline enjoying pristine, uninterrupted ocean views, COAST will house flexible but distinct dining spaces, split into a 110-seat restaurant and 160-seat bar.

It will feature a main dining room, lounge area, private booths, expansive outdoor bar area, a Spanish-style Josper oven to deliver tantalising flavours, and a standout 14m marble bar.

With over two decades of experience, husband and wife hospitality duo, Justin and Elizabeth Allie, are the proud owners of the venue, adding it to their portfolio of successful and established hotspots including the likes of Longboards Laidback Eatery and Bar in Surfers Paradise, The Fish Shak in Southport and catering company Gourmet en Counter.

“We’re big foodies. Elizabeth and I have been involved in the local hospitality industry for more than 22-years. Our venues in the past have been more casual, which we love, but we’ve always wanted to open a venue like this,” Mr Allie said.

“I don’t think we could have asked for a better location, venue design and team of staff. We want to play an active role in growing Surfers Paradise as an iconic food and drink destination within Australia and we hope COAST will make its mark.”

The new venue will bring a touch of sophistication and luxury to Surfers Paradise, with its finishes crafted with a timeless, modern-coastal palette and natural, earthy tones such as Tasmanian Oak furnishings.

Mr Allie said COAST has been in the making for almost 2-years and has been, “designed around entertaining with a relaxed, casual feel and modern vibe”.

With an exquisite menu that’s designed to be shared, patrons will be able to indulge in food celebrating modern Australian cuisine and flavours that utilise fresh, seasonal and local produce.

“The menu is centred around flavours of our land and sea. Our restaurant will source only the finest local ingredients, cooked in our signature Josper wood and charcoal oven to deliver a bespoke smoked flavour.”

“We also have an exclusive dry ageing fridge onsite, which will elicit maximum flavour from our beef dishes,” Mr Allie added.

The menu will feature key dishes utilising 8+ wagyu rump cap from Jacks Creek in NSW, fresh oysters from Stradbroke Island in QLD and lamb shoulder from Junee in NSW, as well as free range chicken from Nichols in Tasmania.

Menu standouts include starters such as coal roasted yogurt bread with smoked eggplant pate, beef fillet tartar with shoyu, avocado and miso cured yolk, wasabi leaves with sand crab, chilli, lime and caviars; Josper fired plates of local prawns from B-mine Trawler with XO butter, organic cauliflower steak from Toowoomba with chermoula; and sides of charred baby lettuce hearts with bacon and walnuts, chipotle coleslaw with cheddar and pork crackle, truffled potato bake chips and crispy kipflers with cavalo nero, spec and onion jam.

COAST’s signature dish is the Tomahawk by John Dee Optimal – 120-day grain fed, dry aged for 30 days in house and served with chefs sides and condiments.

The modern Australian cuisine and share-style menu, was crafted by Chef Rhett Willis who has more than 2 decades of culinary experience in some of the country’s best venues including Jellyfish and Cha Cha Char.

The venue will also exhibit a 2,000 strong wine bottle cellar that will take centre stage in the restaurant, offering up to 120 wines, with roughly 80 per cent of the collection featuring Australian wines from only the best various grape-growing regions in the country.

While the venue’s feature piece – a 26-year vertical Penfolds Grange Magnum Collection, valued at over $60,000 – is to be enjoyed exclusively at COAST by devotees of fine wine.

COAST will employee up to 80 people during peak periods and is looking for local applicants for those eager to join the team in delivering, what will become, an iconic dining experience on the Gold Coast.

Located in the newly built Ocean by Meriton along the Surfers Paradise Esplanade, the 750 sqm COAST Beach Bar & Kitchen will adorn the first floor of the hotel with its sophisticated design and dining spaces.

“Infused with a relaxed land and sea focus, with colour themes of muted blue and green, rattan, contrasting brass, leather, and marble fixtures, COAST has been created to house and celebrate shared dining moments delivered in an enchanting coastal space – both inside and out,” Justin said.

COAST Beach Bar & Kitchen is located at Level 1 of Ocean by Meriton – 86 The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217 and opens Friday, 5 August.
